Protecting Your PC During A Storm Surge
Tropical Storm and Hurricane season are upon us here in the Gulf South region.
Here are some things you can do to protect your PCs and equipment when you're out of office during storm surges:
- Make sure all PCs are turned OFF, not just in sleep mode, before you leave your office to prevent power surge damage
- If any equipment is on the ground, such as larger tower desktops, surge protectors, and battery backups, move them to higher ground for flood protection
- If you bring company laptops out of office to work from home, make sure you plug into surge protectors in your home to prevent power surge damage
Another thing to note: though your office power may be on, internet speed may run slow or be out entirely.
